A not absolutely exhaustive list of what we ride with – I doubt even our most avid followers would wish to know the brand and quantity of underwear we’re sporting en route (see http://www.goingslowly.com/gear/ for an example…)

This will be updated towards end of trip with brief review of selected items!

Bike

Modified (and resprayed) Dawes Double Edge aluminium tandem, circa 2006 – bought second hand for £500 ($800) – lovingly serviced pre-departure by Darren at Poundbury Cyclosport http://www.poundburycyclesport.co.uk/

Gearing: 27 speed (mainly Shimano Deore with Travativ tandem cranks)

Brakes: Avid cable disc

Wheels: 48 (!) spoke 26”

Tyres: Schwalbe Marathon Supreme 2.0”

Bars: Captain – Modolo Yuma Mohican bars (trimmed to fit Ortleib bar bag); Stoker – Nitto bullhorn – both with bells

Grips: Captain – WTB grips with Velo foam on bends; Stoker: Velo foam – double wrapped

Saddles: Captain – WTB V-groove (basic model); Stoker – Specialized Sonoma BG (women’s specific)

Pedals: Wellgo basic alloy model, with Powergrips

Mount-ons

Front: Tubus Tara

Rear: Blackburn EX1 disc specific (skewer mounted)

Bottle cages: six on main frame (including 1.5 litre universal cage), plus Minoura saddle mount dual bottle adaptor, fitted behind  rear rack. Total capacity: 6 litres
